Inspired by the RIBA award winning refurbishment of our home, the old library in Erith, designers Dave Britton and Harry Hasson (of AtelierThirtyFour) have designed a flexible modular system that is ideal for home or work. Finest grade birch plywood used in the new elements of the refurbishment are here combined with solid oak that recalls the original library furniture and fittings to create the perfect combination of old and new.
The range is extremely versatile and can be tailored to your specific needs but will also include standard items developed for our office and workshop spaces including a desk, a table, large storage shelving and freestanding bookshelf.

tex is a unique range of products and the result of creative collaborations between professional designer-makers and local Community Makers at The Exchange. Through their partnership, they enable increased and affordable access to craft skills learning, that in turn supports the maintenance of a listed building and wider community and social development.

An essential part of the process at the Exchange is prototyping.
All our products go through an extensive prototyping process during which we refine the design and making before making them available for sale. This is also when the community makers perfect their skills and the prototypes are used throughout the old library.
The AtelierThiryFour designed furniture, including desks, books shelves and storage units are currently at this stage, and you can see the design develop in person by visiting us at the old library.
